Hyderabad: Amid criticism from various sections of the society, Telangana chief minister Mr. K Chandrasekhar Rao held a review meeting with Excise and Police officials at the Pragathi Bhavan to discuss on the growing drug menace in the state capital. The chief minister asked the officials to probe into drug cases and not to spare anyone, even if it is one of his cabinet ministers.
The chief minister told the officials to investigate and strike the roots of the problem and not to go in for knee jerk reactions. He further added that severe punishment should be given to those who indulge in supplying of drugs or adulteration.
It was learned that the chief minister KCR was pained to hear that even the blood is being adulterated by using chemicals. KCR said that the government will consider increasing the quantum of punishment for such activities if necessary, while assuring the police that there will not be any political intervention in their investigation.
KCR said that the Police department must work in coordination with the Excise department to eradicate drug menace completely from the root level. “Hyderabad is the brand image of Telangana state. It should be preserved. I request the officials to curb this drug menace as soon as possible”, KCR said.
On the other hand, the Excise department is preparing to send another 15 notices to alleged drug consumers, of which most of them are said to be from the film industry.
