Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan expressed happiness on the success of Haritha Haram initiative all over the state. Thanking the public for taking part in the ‘Green Telangana initiative’, the Mayor requested citizens to plant at least ten saplings each and protect them. The Mayor participated in a Haritha Haram program organized by a private school in Nadargul, before speaking to the media.
“It is one of the prestigious initiatives just like the Swaccha Bharat. It is our duty and responsibility to save the nature. I request every citizen to at least plant ten saplings in their surroundings and safeguard them from threats”, Mayor Rammohan said. The Mayor said that they have kept a target of planting at least one crore saplings in the GHMC jurisdiction.
“We have so far planted 8 lakh saplings and looking forward to working with various organizations to reach the target. GHMC will plant another four lakh saplings in the coming days”, he said. Further, the mayor wished that all the SHGs and NGOs take part in the Haritha Haram initiative and move forward for a Greener Telangana.
On the other hand, school students in Kagaznagar planted 10,000 saplings and pledged to protect them till they became trees. Also, Circle Inspector of Kagaznagar planted 500 saplings along with his staff, at Sirsilk.
