Congress party is doing what ever it could to be consider as a main contender if not form government in Uttar Pradesh. It hired the lucky mascot Prashanth as the strategist and he then created a strategy to split the congress into two groups. One headed by Shiela Dixit the chief ministerial candidate from congress for UP and the other team headed by the congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. Both the groups toiled for months and covered almost all nooks and corners of the UP interacting with people and explaining them about the good deeds of UPA and what they would do here if they come any where close to power.
While all this happened for month, today they had to hear a shocker in the form of India Today survey which predicted a max of 12 MLA seats out of the total 403 seats. What is more interesting is only 1 percent of the survey sample have voted in favor of shiela Dixit as CM, while Mayavathi had largest support as a CM with 31 percent support. This clearly shows how disconnected the congress is with people after the two consecutive UPA governments.
Above that, what came as even bigger suprise is the scion of Gandhi family, Priyanka Gandhi had only two percent supports as a CM candidate. Given the hype around Priyanka and the demand within the congress to rope in her for the next general election as she is believed to be the saviour of the pary, the 2 percent acceptance is highly disappointing to all the congress leaders and congress supporters.
Does this mean she is highly over rated or may be Pan India she might have a better appeal. as election are local and fought for becoming the head of the state. Stay tuned till 2019, you will have the answer.
