GUNTUR: Distributing scholarships for meritorious students sponsored by Kannan Rangaiah Charitable Trust, the former Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari lauded the efforts of the NGOs in India for the development of society. The minister was invited by the Rangaiah Charitable Trust to distribute scholarships to the meritorious students among the poor.
Taking part in the program at the Guntur Convention Centre on Sunday, the former minister urged people to join NGOs and do service to the nation.
“Education has gradually become a commercial market and not every student can afford it. It is the selfless services of some charitable trusts like the Rangaiah Charitable trust that gives a ray of hope for economically backward students to study. Providing scholarships for poor students is one of the best services that a man can do for his country. By providing scholarships to the poor students, we are actually helping for a strong nation to build by investing in education”, Mrs. Purandeswari said.
Kanna Laxminarayana, a former minister and the chairperson of the Kannan Rangaiah Charitable trust explained about the activities of the trust. He said that aim of the trust is to help the poor and the downtrodden.
Later, Kanna Laxminarayana and Purandeswari facilitated former MLA Gudibanda Venkatareddy and Dr. P Raghava Sharma for their service to the society. Guntur city president Anjaneyulu and District BJP President Nallabotu Venkat Rao were also present on the occasion.
