Telangana’s opposition leaders have on Saturday met the state governor Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan to complain over the State government’s failure to tackle issues related to farmers.
A delegation from the Congress Party, headed by the state chief Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy, met the governor to discuss various problems faced by the farmers in Telangana state. The meeting with the governor had reportedly lasted for an hour and was fruitful as claimed by the Congress leaders.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Reddy said “The Congress party has requested the governor to immediately address the farmer issues which are adversely affecting agriculture in Telangana. The governor has responded positively to our complaints and we are hopeful that at least, the government will wake up now before it is too late”.
“There has been a significant rise in companies providing fake seeds to the farmers. Poor farmers are risking their lives at the end, because of the negligence of the government in controlling these fake companies. Also, we demand that the government must release funds straight away to waive farmer loans as promised”, Mr. Reddy added.
The Congress party also lodged an official complaint with the governor, alleging the state government of willfully targeting the Congress leaders in the Warangal corporator’s murder case. It demanded that the police must remove the names of Congress leaders from the charge sheet or hand over the case to CID for transparency in the investigation.
